North Judson Man Charged in Chesterton Gas Station Donation Jar Thefts

Chesterton, Indiana — Joshua Todd, 43, of North Judson, Indiana, has been charged by the Chesterton Police Department (CPD) in relation to alleged thefts of St. Jude’s donation jars from two local gas stations.

According to police reports the incidents, captured on surveillance footage, occurred on Nov. 16 at a BP station on Indian Boundary Road and a Speedway on Gateway Blvd. Sgt. Tony Alfaro and Det. Sgt. Justin Frever, who were assigned to the investigation, used evidence including surveillance footage and license plate information from a silver Dodge Avenger, leading to Todd’s identification. Frever also connected Todd to similar thefts in nearby areas.

Todd was booked into the Porter County Jail on a theft charge and was released on bond, with a court date set for March 25, 2024, according to Assistant Police Chief Cisco Rodriguez.
