Indiana State Police Investigate Death of Inmate at St. Joseph County Jail

INDIANA – State Police are investigating the death of a 65-year-old female inmate at St. Joseph County Jail in Indiana. 

According to police reports the inmate experienced a medical emergency on Saturday, Dec. 23, and despite immediate life-saving efforts by jail staff and emergency medical technicians, she succumbed. The incident, which occurred over the weekend, has prompted an autopsy scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 26, in Kalamazoo. 

Authorities assure that all necessary protocols were adhered to during the emergency. The investigation aims to provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death and ensure the continued safety and well-being of all inmates.
