Peoria Man Killed, Two Injured in Interstate 80 Crash with Semi in Iowa

Scott County, IA – A Peoria man was pronounced dead at the scene of a devastating crash on Interstate 80 in Scott County, Iowa, late Saturday night. 

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the collision occurred around 9:41 PM near mile marker 288.5 when a semi-truck struck the rear of a 2024 Chevy Trax, causing it to veer off the road into a ditch.

The deceased was identified as a 52-year-old male driver from Peoria. Also injured in the incident were two passengers from Peoria: a 52-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male, both of whom were transported to Genesis East Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the semi, a 31-year-old male from Idaho, sustained no injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol is collaborating with the Scott County Accident Investigation Team to further investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. More information will be released as the investigation progresses.
