JOPLIN, MO – It was an unusual day at McKinley Elementary in Joplin when a deer decided to make a surprise visit to the school library. Staff watched in amazement as the animal seemed to be “browsing” the bookshelves after school was out.

The school’s social media team had a bit of fun with the situation, suggesting that the deer might be trying to embody the school’s learning spirit. With the help of district staff and local authorities, the deer was escorted out, leaving the library ready for its regular patrons: the McKinley Eagles.
