Omaha, NE – Nebraska residents are preparing for extreme weather conditions as strong, fast-moving storms are expected to hit the region this evening. The National Weather Service Omaha/Valley has issued warnings for 80+ mph wind gusts, hail, and possible tornadoes, urging residents to stay vigilant.

According to the National Weather Service, the severe weather threat is highest between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. A 70-90% chance of thunderstorms is forecasted, with a 15-25% likelihood that any given storm could become severe. The primary threats include damaging wind gusts over 80 mph, large hail that could cause significant damage to roofs, vehicles, and crops, and a brief tornado.

Localized flash flooding is also a concern, with heavy rainfall expected in some areas. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates closely and have multiple ways to receive warnings. Outdoor plans should be reconsidered, and precautions should be taken to secure loose objects and protect property.
