INDIANAPOLIS – A report from the San Diego Union-Tribune says Colts quarterback Philip Rivers is stepping away from the NFL to retire.

“It’s just time,” Rivers told the newspaper after losing the AFC Wild Card game against the Buffalo Bills just two weekends ago on January 9th. The Colts later confirmed the retirement of the 8-time All-Pro quarterback within the past hour.

Rivers will finish ranked 5th all-time in passing yards in the league with 64,440 and 421 touchdowns.

Both are records among quarterbacks without a Super-Bowl appearance.
