WATSEKA, IL – ATV owners in Watseka are on high alert following a recent incident that resulted in a total loss of a vehicle due to a fire. The estimated damage is around $7,000, with the ATV being completely burned up in the blaze.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The incident occurred at a garage located at 520 N. 2nd Street, where the owner of the ATV was able to get the vehicle out of the garage before the fire department was called. Thanks to the swift action of the firefighters, the fire was prevented from spreading further, though the garage did sustain minor damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Watseka Fire Department.

In the meantime, ATV owners in the area are urged to take precautions, such as ensuring their vehicles are properly maintained, parked away from flammable materials, and equipped with fire extinguishers.

After the local ATV fire incident, residents are reminded to take steps to maintain and prevent fires in their vehicles. Proper maintenance, storage, and safety measures can go a long way in preventing accidents.

ATV owners should regularly inspect their vehicles for any signs of wear and tear, ensure that spark arrestors are clean and functioning properly, and avoid parking ATVs near flammable materials.

Having a fire extinguisher on hand and knowing how to use it can be a lifesaver in case of emergencies. Following safety guidelines, such as avoiding reckless driving and operating ATVs only in designated areas, can also minimize the risk of fires.

By prioritizing maintenance and safety, ATV owners can enjoy their vehicles safely and minimize the chances of accidents or fires.
