Bolingbrook, IL – A peaceful day in Bolingbrook took a dramatic turn Thursday when two teenagers, aged 18 and 17, were arrested after shots were fired at bottles in a wooded area near Winston Woods Park.
According to Bolingbrook police reports, on August 31, at 11:28 am, officers swiftly responded to reports of gunfire, taking the incident seriously. The young suspects, were later identified as 18-year-old Justin Kaye and a 17-year-old male juvenile, were found near the 700 block of North Bolingbrook Drive. The police also recovered two handguns at the scene.
Nearby Wood View Elementary School was placed on a soft lock down during the incident. L Initial investigations revealed that the teens were using the wooded area for target practice.
Kaye now faces multiple charges, including Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm without a FOID (Firearm Owner’s Identification Card), and Possession of Ammunition without a FOID. He has been transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
