Braidwood, IL – Braidwood Police are issuing an alert to parents following a concerning incident Tuesday afternoon.

According to reports it happened around 3:20 p.m. while a local girl was walking home from school and approached by an older white male driving a black or dark blue truck near the intersection of Cermak and English. That’s when the man reportedly pulled over and asked the girl if she’d like a ride home. Fortunately, the quick-thinking child declined the offer, prompting the man to promptly drive away.

“We just contacted the school and informed them and we will be working closely with them,” Police said in a statement Tuesday night. “We will be conducting extra patrols along with other measures. Please take this opportunity and discuss this with your children.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the Braidwood Police Department.
