BRAIDWOOD, Ill. – A high-speed chase ending near Reed Road on Interstate 55 led to a temporary soft lockdown of Braidwood schools Wednesday afternoon.

According to Grundy County Sheriff’s police, the vehicle, sought for a reported aggravated battery out of Peoria, fled Grundy County ProAct officers before being halted by a successful spike strip deployment. Two suspects were detained on the spot.

A potentially armed woman fled into the nearby woods. Swift action by area law enforcement established a perimeter, putting schools on precautionary lockdown. Shortly after, the woman was apprehended without any issues, allowing the lockdown to be lifted and ensuring the community’s safety.
