Hobart, IN — Hobart Police are urgently requesting public assistance following a fatal hit-and-run incident early Wednesday morning.

According to police reports at around 7:12 AM, a routine patrol officer discovered the body of a 59-year-old Lake Station man, whose identity is being withheld pending family notification, on the 6700 block of East 37th Avenue, near the Deep River Bridge. The preliminary investigation suggests the victim was walking along the road when struck by a vehicle heading westbound. The vehicle, believed to be a gray 2005-2010 Honda Odyssey with passenger side damage, fled the scene post-collision.

The South Lake County Crash Reconstruction Team has taken charge of the scene investigation. Authorities are appealing to anyone with information to contact Officer Tommie Tatum at ttatum@cityofhobart.org or call the Hobart Police at 219-942-1125. In their quest for justice, the police have released a stock image of the suspected vehicle model, hoping it will aid in their search for the perpetrator.

The Hobart community is reeling from this tragedy, and police are adamant about bringing the responsible party to justice. They urge residents and witnesses to come forward with any relevant information that might help resolve this devastating case.
