Williamson County, Illinois – A California man was arrested in Williamson County, Illinois, after deputies seized drugs worth over $250,000 from his vehicle on Interstate 57.
According to police reports on Tuesday, Williamson County Sheriff’s Deputies observed the vehicle committing Illinois Vehicle Code violations and initiated a pursuit when the driver failed to stop. The chase, reaching speeds over 100 mph, ended near Effingham, Illinois, with deputies performing a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver. The driver, identified as Dejon D. Wooden of Los Angeles, California, was allegedly found with 80.3 pounds of Cannabis and 760 ounces of Promethazine, a schedule 2 narcotic.
Wooden faces multiple charges including Cannabis and Controlled Substance Trafficking, Aggravated Assault, and Reckless Driving. He is currently held at the Williamson County Jail.
