Ann Arbor, MI – A Canton man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month on Washtenaw Avenue, authorities said.
According to the Ann Arbor Police Department, Thelonius Williams, 23, was arrested on May 31 in relation to the May 3 shooting. Williams has been charged with multiple felonies, including assault with intent to murder and assault with intent to do great bodily harm. The charges also include assault by strangulation and discharge from a vehicle causing injury. Over the weekend, Williams was arraigned and is currently held at the Washtenaw County Jail on a $250,000 cash or surety bond.
The incident took place around 1:45 a.m. in the 3300 block of Washtenaw Avenue. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 32-year-old man was driving in the area when he was struck by gunfire. The victim, whose injuries were non-life-threatening, managed to transport himself to the University of Michigan Hospital, where he received treatment and has since been released.
