Chicago, IL – Residents in the Chicagoland region should brace for persistent fog and rain extending through Friday night, according to the National Weather Service. The advisory, issued on January 25, 2024, cautions that visibility may drop below a quarter-mile at times due to dense fog enveloping the city.

According to the latest updates from the National Weather Service Chicago, the area will experience periods of rain and fog that will persist until Friday evening. With rainfall anticipated tonight, there’s an increased risk of flooding in the coming days, especially with warmer temperatures aiding the melting of any snowpack. The NWS advises the public to stay vigilant and prepare for potential travel disruptions and elevated water levels.

The weather service also suggests slowing down on the roads, increasing following distance, and using low beam headlights to navigate the fog safely.
