Chicago area residents are gearing up as the season’s first notable snowfall approaches.

The US National Weather Service Chicago Illinois has forecasted that snow will begin tonight, continuing into Saturday. Snowfall accumulations are projected to be in the 1 to 3-inch range, predominantly between midnight and 10 AM Saturday. The heaviest snow is expected near the I-55 corridor.

Officials are cautioning of possible slippery roads and reduced visibility, particularly Saturday morning, and advise motorists to allow for extra travel time and exercise caution.
