Chicago, IL – In the wake of collecting a staggering 52 tons of refuse from the Chicagoland expressways, the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is calling on residents to prioritize proper trash disposal and recycling.

The cleanup last Saturday, which netted the equivalent weight of 35 vehicles in litter, serves as a sobering reminder of the collective responsibility to maintain the city’s environment. IDOT underscores the importance of public participation in keeping expressways clean through diligent waste disposal and embracing recycling practices to minimize the ecological footprint.

This initiative is part of an ongoing campaign to enhance the beauty and safety of Chicago’s major transportation routes.
