Chicago, IL – As the National Weather Service predicts thunderstorms this week, they are reminding residents of the necessary precautions to stay safe.

With warm temperatures and windy conditions giving way to possible thunderstorms, the weather shift is expected to begin Wednesday night, carrying into Thursday with an 80-90% chance of storms. Residents are encouraged to help secure their community by trimming trees and securing loose items before the storm.

The National Weather Service emphasizes the importance of seeking shelter at the first sign of thunder or lightning and advises staying indoors for 30 minutes following the last indication of the storm to ensure safety from lightning hazards. This advice is crucial for preventing storm-related injuries and maintaining public safety.
