Chicago Man Arrested in Maywood Double Homicide Case

Maywood, IL – A Chicago man has been detained and charged in connection with a double homicide case in Maywood, according to local authorities.

According to the Maywood Police Department, the suspect, identified as James Dixon, age 28, was arrested on February 26th, 2024, and faces first-degree murder charges. The arrest follows a January 1st shooting that claimed the lives of Alonzo Mallett and Tyrone Mallett, and injured two others. 

The Maywood Police Department acknowledged the cooperative efforts of multiple agencies, including the Chicago Police Department, FBI, and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, in the ongoing investigation. 

Dixon is expected to attend a detention hearing on February 28, 2024, at the Maywood Courthouse. Community members with information are urged to contact the Maywood Police Department’s tip line.
