Chicago Man Faces Charges After Fleeing from Traffic Stop in Kankakee County

KANKAKEE, IL – A routine traffic stop in Kankakee resulted in the arrest of a 48-year-old Chicago man, Eugene J. Stone, on Thursday morning. 

Illinois State Police pulled over Stone’s vehicle at Orchard and Court Streets around 11:30 a.m. for allegedly not wearing a seat belt. However, when troopers attempted to speak to Stone, he allegedly ran off on foot, leading to a short foot chase before he was apprehended.

Stone, who resides in Kankakee, was taken into custody and booked at Jerome Combs Detention Center with a bond set at $25,000.00. 

Stone is now facing charges of unlawful use of a weapon/firearm, resisting/obstructing a police officer, and aggravated fleeing/eluding a police officer.
