Chicago Residents Injured as Mundelein Crash Ends in Flames: Driver Killed, Passenger Ejected

MUNDELEIN, IL – A devastating Saturday afternoon crash in unincorporated Mundelein resulted in the death of a 66-year-old man and left several injured. 

According to Lake County Sheriff’s reports it happened Saturday night when an SUV veered off Gilmer Road, crashing into a tree and bursting into flames. The crash near the 29000 block of Gilmer Road saw a Grayslake man ejected and a Mundelein driver killed in the wreck. 

Two Chicago residents, aged 37 and 36, were seriously injured after escaping the wreck’s inferno. 

The crash is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Crash Investigations Team.
