Lakeside, OR – A 38-year-old man is in custody following a reported shooting Sunday night in Lakeside that prompted a multi-agency response and led to several serious felony charges.
According to the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched around 10:55 p.m. Sunday to reports of a female screaming near the library in Lakeside. Responding deputies, along with Oregon State Police, located two individuals involved at the Tenmile Lake County boat ramp.
Investigators say the suspect, identified as Kai M. Dendy, allegedly fired a weapon multiple times in the direction of a woman during the incident. Authorities also stated Dendy was likely under the influence of methamphetamine at the time.
During the investigation, a K9 unit conducted a search of Dendy’s vehicle after alerting to the presence of drugs. Law enforcement reportedly seized two pistols, a large knife, a small amount of methamphetamine, and narcotic smoking devices.
Dendy was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, kidnapping in the first degree, felon in possession of a firearm, unlawful use of a weapon, menacing, assault IV (domestic), strangulation, criminal mischief II, and unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
According to authorities, Dendy was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Officials emphasized that all charges are allegations, and Dendy is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
