“Cop Killer is in Custody,” Grant Park Police Department says

GRANT PARK – Two people suspected in the death of a Bradley Police officer Sgt. Marlene Rittmanic has been arrested in Indiana. The pair were arrested two and a half hours away from Bradley in North Manchester, Indiana by U.S. Marshalls overnight in the 1000-block Bond Street.

Local police departments have already begun reacting to the news.

Rittmanic, 49, was killed after responding to a complaint of dogs barking at Comfort Inn in Bradley Wednesday night. Her partner, 27-year-old Tyler Bailey, was also shot when individuals inside the hotel allegedly attacked the pair, remains in critical condition in a Chicago area hospital.

Illinois State Police issued an arrest warrant for Darius D. Sullivan 26-year-old Xandria Harris of Bradley.

The identities of the individuals arrested have yet to be released.

Bradley Police Chief Donald Barber announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Sullivan, which was later increased to $25,000 by the Kankakee County Sheriff’s Department late Thursday afternoon.

Rittmanic’s death marked the first time a law enforcement officer had been killed in Kankakee County since 1996.
