KANKAKEE – A serious crash between two semis on I-57 closed the interstate to travelers Thursday morning.
According to Illinois State Police it happened around 4 a.m. this morning when a semi crashed into another semi that was disabled in the highway partially in the road.
One driver was uninjured while the driver that crashed into the disabled vehicle was taken to a nearby hospital with life threatening injuries.
Kankakee City Police report due to the severity of the crash, traffic is expected to be closed northbound through the afternoon.
Heavy traffic is expected on Route 45/52, Court Street, South Harrison Avenue until tonight. Try to avoid the areas if possible.
