JOLIET, IL – Terry D’Arcy, the owner and president of D’Arcy Automobiles in Joliet, has been elected as the new mayor of the city.

With nearly 11,775 tallied votes and 83.56% of precincts reporting, D’Arcy secured 6,592 votes, while Bob O’Dekirk received 3,186 votes, and Tykes Bell received 1,017 votes in the 2023 Consolidated Election.

As the owner of D’Arcy Automobiles, D’Arcy has overseen all operations and finances, including sales, budgets, accounting, forecasting, compliance, safety, service, and marketing. He is also formally served as a director on the Illinois Tollway Board, a board member at Silver Cross Hospital, and a member of the University of St. Francis 2022 Caritas Committee.

D’Arcy has received numerous awards and recognition for his contributions to the community, including the 2022 Citizen of the Year award from Will-Grundy Counties Central Trades and being named as one of Automotive News’ 100 Best Dealers to Work for in 2019.

As the new mayor of Joliet, D’Arcy is expected to bring his business expertise and community involvement to the role, working to improve the city and its residents’ lives. His election victory came against incumbent Bob O’Dekirk, who was seeking his third term as mayor of Joliet. O’Dekirk, an attorney and former Joliet police officer, ran on his record of “off the charts” economic development in the city.

D’Arcy’s win marks a significant shift in Joliet’s leadership, and many are eager to see what changes he will bring to the city.
