DNA, YouTube aid in arrest of Chicago Felon linked to Indian Lakes Country Club Shooting

Bloomingdale, Ill. – Travis Peery, a convicted felon from Chicago, has been charged with unlawful use or possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, a Class 2 Felony, in connection with a 2021 shooting at the former Indian Lakes Country Club.

The incident that March at the former golf resort left one dead and six injured.

According to DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin, the weapon, a MPA30T with an extended magazine, was allegedly used in the shooting that claimed the life of James McGill. Peery was found in Las Vegas, Nevada, and extradited to Illinois where his DNA was allegedly found on the weapon. 

Authorities also viewed a YouTube video where Peery can allegedly be seen holding the same weapon. 

Peery’s bond is set at $300,000.
