Wakefield, VA – East Coast residents are bracing for severe thunderstorms as the National Weather Service has issued a watch for parts of Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington D.C., effective until 9 PM EDT Thursday.

According to the US National Weather Service, the impending storms may bring hail up to quarter-size, wind gusts up to 65 MPH, and frequent lightning. This weather system poses significant threats, with potential impacts on approximately 18.8 million people, 4,500 schools, and 265 hospitals across the affected regions.

Authorities recommend securing outdoor objects, avoiding travel if possible, and staying indoors away from windows during the storm. The high winds and potential for hail can cause significant damage to property and pose a danger to anyone caught outside.
