Henry County, IL – A tragic accident on Route 34 in Henry County resulted in the death of a bicyclist late Friday night, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
According to police reports the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 PM on Friday, sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene near 3342 Route 34, where a vehicle had struck a bicyclist. The victim was immediately transported to OSF-Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kewanee but was later pronounced dead.
The occupants of the vehicle involved declined medical attention at the scene. The road south of Kewanee was closed to facilitate an ongoing investigation, and authorities are urging the public to avoid the area. Chief Deputy Ben Franklin stated that more details would be released as the investigation progresses.
