Central Illinois Faces Large Hail Risk Amid Scattered Thunderstorms

Lincoln, IL – Central Illinois residents are bracing for potential severe weather conditions as scattered thunderstorms are forecasted to hit the area this evening. 

The National Weather Service in Lincoln has issued a severe weather alert, warning of large hail and damaging winds primarily between 3 PM and 9 PM today. Following a relatively calm morning, thunderstorms are expected to intensify by mid-afternoon, moving from the western parts of the state and potentially growing severe.

According to the National Weather Service, the primary threats include large hail and damaging winds, alongside risks of heavy rain. Residents are advised to stay weather aware and be prepared to seek shelter indoors as storms approach. The forecast also includes a 5% risk of isolated severe storms impacting the region, underscoring the need for vigilance among locals.
