Fatal Crash in Gary, Indiana Claims Life of Lake Station Man

Gary, IN – A tragic accident this afternoon resulted in the death of a 28-year-old man from Lake Station, Indiana. According to the Gary Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:53 p.m. in the 4000 block of Washington Street. Officers arriving at the scene discovered a silver 2010 Chevrolet Camaro that had collided with two trees on the northwest corner of 40th Ave and Washington Street.

Preliminary investigations suggest the driver lost control of the vehicle while traveling northbound on Washington Street, crossing the railroad tracks. Speed is believed to be a significant factor in the crash. Upon their arrival, officers found no signs of life in the driver. The Gary Fire Department was summoned to the scene and confirmed the driver’s death. The victim was later identified as a 28-year-old male resident of Lake Station.

The Lake County Police Department, along with the Gary Police Department’s Traffic Division, are conducting a thorough traffic reconstruction to determine the exact cause of the accident. The Lake County Coroner was also called to the scene. Further updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
