Felon arrested on gun charges high speed chase in Kankakee

KANKAKEE, Ill. – A man from Kankakee was arrested on gun charges after a red Hyundai he was a passenger in blew a stop sign on Thursday afternoon, according to Kankakee City Police.

Officers on patrol saw the vehicle speeding westbound on East Willow Street in North Wildwood before running a stop sign. They pulled the driver over on North Indiana and East Mulberry street. The driver was arrested for a suspended license while the real passenger, Parrish N Person,22, had an outstanding warrant out of Will County.

Person ran from officers after a short foot chase, but he was quickly apprehended and placed in a squad car. A search of the vehicle revealed marijuana and a loaded AR-15 automatic rifle on the floorboards where Person was sitting.

Person was arrested on seven counts, including resisting arrest, use or possession of a weapon by a felon, and other various charges related to firearm possession.
