Fire displaces family, causes $40k worth of damage to Kankakee home Tuesday

KANKAKEE – A family of four is displaced tonight following a fire this morning.

According to Kankakee Fire, it began in the attic of the home at 640 Woodlea Road around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.  The fire originated while a resident inside the house was reportedly attempting to remove paint from an attic socket.  

The blaze caused over $40,000 worth of damage.  No one was injured in the fire.
