Florida Man Killed in Head-On Crash on U.S. 41 in Indiana

Gibson County, IN – A late Thursday night collision on U.S. 41 near C.R. 550 South has tragically resulted in the death of a Florida man and left an Illinois woman seriously injured. 

Indiana State Police report that the incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. when a Nissan Rogue, driven by a 57-year-old man from West Palm Beach, Florida, entered the northbound lanes heading south, crashing head-on into a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The Malibu’s driver, 37-year-old Leanna Morris of Mt. Carmel, IL, was in her correct lane at the time of the collision.

The Florida man was pronounced dead at the scene, while Morris was rushed to Deaconess Midtown Hospital with serious injuries. The crash led to a two-hour closure of the northbound lanes of U.S. 41 as the Indiana State Police and Gibson County Sheriff’s Office conducted their investigations. The deceased’s identity will be released after his family has been notified. The investigation into the fatal accident continues.
