Four months later, Kankakee County surpasses 1,500 cases in pandemic

Kankakee County Health Department officials announced Tuesday afternoon over 1,500 cases of COVID-19 had been reported in the County since March.

The first case was reported in Kankakee County on March 19th by Kankakee County officials during a press conference.  On July 14th, nearly four months later, the county has recorded 1,513 confirmed cases of the pandemic.

On Tuesday, 15 new confirmed cases were announced by County officials.  They included nine men and six women ranging in ages teens to 80 years of age.  Over 25% of all cases to date were active on Tuesday, county officials announced 382 cases were active in the County, with 8 residents hospitalized.

Since Monday, 47 new cases have been announced by the local health department.
