During Sunday’s “Meet the Press” Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced he was seriously looking at closing down bars and restaurants to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The announcement comes after France and Spain took similar measures yesterday.

“I’m telling you that we’ve been on the trajectory now and planning for each of these steps because it’s not easy,” Pritzker said.  “We obviously saw that happen in Europe.  Nowhere in the United States really has there been a lockdown on bars and restaurants, but it’s something that we’re seriously looking at.”

The question comes after long crowded lines were seen at O’Hare.  Many St. Patrick’s Day crowds were also spotted in Chicago were spotted in bars across the City on Sunday.

Pritzker’s daily COVID-19 press conference is scheduled today at 2 pm.

You can watch press conferences daily on the Chicago Mayor’s Office Facebook page.
