Hazmat Scare at Des Plaines Police HQ, City Hall Takes Control

DES PLAINES, Ill. – The Des Plaines Police Department is responding to a suspicious package found earlier today at their headquarters located at 1420 Miner St. 

According to police, representatives from various local and federal agencies have been mobilized to address the situation, prioritizing the safety of the community and law enforcement personnel. For precautionary reasons, the police operations have been temporarily relocated to City Hall. 

The decision comes as a measure to ensure the uninterrupted functioning of essential services while the investigation into the package unfolds.

Authorities are urging residents and commuters to exercise caution and seek alternate routes, as emergency vehicles have flooded the area near the station in response to the incident. Des Plaines Fire along with Division 4 Hazmat Teams are responding to the scene.
