High-Speed Chase in Residential Elmhurst Ends in Arrest of Two Teens

Elmhurst, Illinois — A chase Monday involving a stolen vehicle reached 72 miles an hour inside a residential zone before ending with the arrest of two teens.

Two teenagers, including 18-year-old Yohanice Jones Skipper of DeKalb, were arrested Monday in Elmhurst following a high-speed chase involving a reported stolen vehicle. Both teenagers were arrested and allegedly found in possession of weapons.

According to Elmhurst Police reports, officers successfully apprehended the two suspects. Skipper, denied pre-trial release Tuesday, facing multiple charges, including possession of a stolen motor vehicle, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer, Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Resisting a Police Officer, Driving While License Suspended, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Damage to an Attended Vehicle. A 17-year-old juvenile from Bellwood, is scheduled for a detention hearing, facing charges including Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding a Police Officer and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

Elmhurst Chief of Police Michael McLean praised the quick response and coordination among the police departments involved.

Skipper’s next court appearance is set for December 11, 2023, and both suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
