GENESEO, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) seized a whopping 5,231 pounds of illegal cannabis this week, marking one of their most significant busts to date.

According to ISP reports it began September 20, when Robert Mazo, 29, and Pedro Arreola, 33, both from Lancaster, CA, were pulled over during a traffic stop on Interstate 80. Quick actions by an ISP Canine unveiled packages of cannabis hidden throughout their 2000 Provost Bus, with a market value ranging between $6.3 to $14.7 million.

Both men face multiple felony charges, and, after a recent hearing, are out on pretrial conditions.

The investigation remains ongoing.
