Joliet, IL – The highly anticipated second annual Blues Brothers Con, hosted by the Joliet Area Historical Museum, is set to bring back the magic of the iconic “Blues Brothers” film at the Old Joliet Prison Historic Site on August 17, 2024. This event, previously postponed due to the SAG/AFTRA Strikes of 2023, promises an immersive celebration featuring Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi in their legendary roles.
According to Greg Peerbolte, CEO of the Museum, the event aims to honor the film’s legacy and blues music’s influence on the historic prison, which served as a filming location. The festival will feature performances by renowned Chicago blues artists, including Ronnie Baker Brooks and Lil’ Ed & The Blues Imperials, offering fans a unique blend of music and nostalgia.
The Old Joliet Prison, under the stewardship of the Joliet Area Historical Museum since 2018, will open its gates for tours and special experiences, enhancing the connection between the site’s history and its cinematic fame. Proceeds from the Blues Brothers Con support the Museum’s educational tours and community programs, highlighting its commitment to preserving local heritage.
Event attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets early, with assurances from Peerbolte that previous ticket purchases will be honored. For an unforgettable day of music, history, and fanfare, Blues Brothers enthusiasts are invited to converge on the Old Joliet Prison this summer.
