Knox County, IL – Severe snowfall has rendered most roads in Knox County impassable, with local authorities issuing a traffic alert.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, as of Saturday around 4 pm, north/south roads are particularly affected, with southbound lanes heavily drifted over. The situation has overwhelmed plow crews, struggling against the persistent blowing and drifting snow.

Tow services have been suspended outside the City of Galesburg, further complicating the situation. The limited availability of plow services means some roadways might remain impassable until Monday. Emergency services are also restricted due to the treacherous road conditions.

Residents are strongly advised to avoid travel in the area until conditions improve, although an exact timeline for when this might occur is currently unknown.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office emphasizes the importance of staying off the roads to ensure personal safety and allow service crews to effectively address the situation.
