Illinois Detention Center Brawl: 10 Juveniles Assault Staff, Resulting in Hospitalizations and Multiple Injuries

Galesburg, IL – A violent outbreak at the Mary Davis Detention Home on Wednesday evening involved a brawl with 10 juveniles assaulting staff, leading to numerous injuries and several hospitalizations. 

Knox County Sheriff’s Office deputies responding to the scene reported at around 8 PM, coordinated with the Galesburg and Knoxville Police Departments to manage the situation.

Upon arrival, law enforcement swiftly acted to secure the facility, subduing the juveniles involved and returning them to their cells. The altercation inflicted injuries on several staff members, with some requiring hospitalization due to the severity of their wounds.

The detention center has since been declared secure, with all participants in the brawl accounted for. The condition of the victims involved in the attack have not been released as authorities. Continue to investigate the incident. Knox County Sheriff’s Office is working to uncover the factors that ignited the violence, as authorities work to prevent similar incidents in the future.
