HENDERSON, IL – An Illinois man was released on charges of Aggravated Battery to a Child after a harrowing incident where his infant’s heart stopped.

According to Knox County Sheriff’s reports, on September 26, first responders raced to an apartment in Henderson following a report of an unresponsive 3-month-old. Swift actions by the Knox County Sheriff’s Deputies and Henderson Fire first responders revived the baby’s heartbeat through CPR.

The infant, under the care of Treyshawn McClaren, 26, at the time, was rushed to O.S.F. in Peoria following the discovery of trauma-induced injuries. McClaren, arrested on multiple charges including Aggravated Battery to a Child and Endangering the Health and Welfare of a Child, was released on September 28 under supervised conditions.

His preliminary hearing is set for October 18.
