Millington, IL – Navigating the Fox River has become a safety concern. The Illinois Department of Natural Resources has announced a river closure starting from the mouth of the Fox River at Pistakee Lake, extending south to the Bridge Street Bridge in Millington.

The precautionary measure, effective from April 4, 2024, is in response to dangerously high water levels and the risk posed by swift currents and floating debris. Recreational boating activities in the affected area are suspended until further notice to ensure public safety.

Residents and visitors are advised to adhere to this closure and await further updates as conditions are monitored.
