Chicago, IL – Residents across central, east central, north central, and northeast Illinois, as well as northwest Indiana, are preparing for a winter weather advisory in effect from 6 PM CST this evening until noon CST Friday.

According to the advisory, the region is expected to see snow accumulations ranging from 1 to 3 inches, with isolated areas potentially receiving up to 4 inches. The approaching weather system is likely to create challenging travel conditions, with slippery roads and reduced visibility due to blowing snow.

The advisory emphasizes the potential impact on road safety, highlighting concerns for the morning commute, especially in open and outlying areas. Cold wind chills, dropping as low as 5 to 20 degrees below zero, pose additional risks of hypothermia. Residents are advised to exercise caution while traveling.
