Will County, IL – A horse that tumbled from a trailer caused a significant traffic backup on Interstate 80 in unincorporated Will County Thursday afternoon. The incident, which unfolded just after 3:30 p.m., prompted Illinois State Police to respond to the eastbound lanes, where they found traffic had been considerably disrupted.

According to Illinois State Police, the equine escape led to congestion lasting nearly an hour as emergency crews worked diligently to safely corral the horse back into its trailer. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries either to the horse or to people involved in the incident. The scene was cleared, and the flow of traffic resumed normalcy shortly after the animal was secured and the driver was able to continue their journey. The cause of the horse’s fall, however, remains unknown, leaving many questions unanswered regarding the circumstances leading up to the unusual traffic disruption.
