Chicago, IL – Communities near US-24 in central Illinois and Indiana are on alert as a wave of potentially damaging storms is expected to sweep through the area starting Sunday.

The US National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a warning of increased severe weather risk, including showers and thunderstorms that may bring damaging hail, particularly near and south of US-24. Residents are urged to prepare for the inclement weather, which is predicted to persist through Monday and bring additional rainfall into Tuesday.

These storms may disrupt travel and outdoor activities, prompting advisories for residents to monitor updates and take necessary precautions. The forecast indicates that while all thunderstorms will likely produce lightning strikes and downpours, the risk of hail damage is significant enough to warrant particular attention. Public safety officials advise securing outdoor items and exercising caution while driving during these conditions.
