Illinois Man Arrested After Multi-County Indiana Chase Ends at Chicago Skyway Bridge Toll Plaza

La Porte, IN – A dramatic multi-county police chase came to an end at the Chicago Skyway Bridge Toll Plaza, where a Norridge, Illinois man was apprehended Tuesday afternoon. 

The La Porte County Sheriff’s Office reports that the pursuit was initiated after a stolen vehicle was detected traveling eastbound on US 20. Deputy Alex Clemons engaged the suspect near US 20 and Wilhelm Road, sparking a chase that spanned Porter and Lake Counties, ultimately concluding at the Chicago Skyway in Indiana.

The suspect, identified as 43-year-old James A. Simcoe of Norridge, Illinois, is now facing potential extradition to La Porte County on criminal charges related to the incident. Assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Chicago Police Department, Porter County Sheriff’s Office, and Indiana State Police, was crucial in bringing the pursuit to a safe conclusion.
