Illinois Mother Arrested after Infants found in Vacant Property

Kankakee, IL – A shocking incident unfolded in Kankakee, Illinois, as a local woman faces arrest for allegedly abandoning her two infants in a vacant property. 

According to Kankakee City Police reports officers responded to a call Saturday around 4:15 p.m. at a residence in the 300 block of North 8th Avenue.

When officers arrived they reportedly found a crying three-month-old infant and a one to two-year-old toddler in a distressing environment, surrounded by bed bugs, animal feces, and shattered glass. City Fire Department personnel were called to check the children’s condition when the mother returned with another young child. She allegedly confessed to authorities leaving her children unattended while she ran errands.

While the children receive care at the hospital, the mother’s identity remains undisclosed. The children’s condition has not been released.
