MOMENCE, IL – The Illinois State Police are urgently seeking witnesses to come forward in connection with a fatal hit and run incident involving a motorcycle in Momence.
According to officials, it happened the morning of August 27, 2023, when a devastating collision unfolded, resulting in the tragic death of the motorcycle rider. The incident occurred at the intersection of 14000 East and 4000 North Road.
The victim, identified as Bert N. Lawton, a 52-year-old resident of Grant Park, IL, lost his life as a result of the crash. Prompt response from the Illinois State Police led to Lawton being transported to a nearby medical facility, where he was sadly pronounced deceased.
Investigation details reveal that the crash was characterized by a hit and run, with the responsible vehicle fleeing the scene. Law enforcement authorities strongly believe that the vehicle sustained significant front-end damage due to the impact of the collision.
