According to a press release from Monday night, the resignation takes immediate effect, leaving a vacancy in the Illinois House that, by state law, must be filled within 30 days. The appointment to fill the vacancy will be made by the political party of the last incumbent, ensuring continuity in representation for the residents of the 37th District.
