Mishawaka, IN – In a tragic turn of events, Robert Blankenship, 49, of Mishawaka, has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death, a Level 4 Felony. The charge stems from a February 13 incident on East 12th Street, where Blankenship allegedly hit and fatally injured 19-year-old bicyclist Varinder Singh.

Under Indiana law, a conviction for a Level 4 Felony can lead to a sentence ranging from 2 to 12 years. Blankenship is being held without bond until his initial bail hearing, scheduled for Friday, February 16. This case has raised serious concerns about road safety and the responsibilities of motorists in Mishawaka.
